Lovely nose. Spice and greens. Floral. Palate is ripe and juicy but also round yet mineral and intense. Good tannins. Structured and juicy.

Aug 22nd, 2022These are night 2 notes because, like all E&M wines, it needs serious air. It’s made in what seems a serious skin-contact fashion. Nose shows creamy, deep yellow fruits and some stoniness. Deep fruit in the mouth, though bone dry. A nice bit of countering bitterness in the finish. Delicious and unique! And a great value

Apr 27th, 2019Deep orange-gold color: clearly some serious skin contact. (And by the way, this needed decanting from a sediment standpoint, which I respect!) On night 2 as I write this, it’s still only slowly opening up, yielding scents of wet gravel, crystallized ginger, dried apricot, and bitter honey. Tightly-wound, bone dry, and intensely mineral in the mouth. Distinctive! I think this would be dynamite with grilled shrimp.

Aug 13th, 2018Apple and yellow peach nose. Much improved over last time with age. Very special indeed. In the glass orange rind, quince, apricot pits it's just unique different and special. Florian one of the winemakers was right this needed time. It's unreal that Gutedel or Auxerrois can have that much taste 🍷🍷🍷The best white from E&M.

1 person found it helpfulOct 5th, 2016This wine, as I'm beginning to understand with E&M wines, needs a lot of air to start showing its stuff. These notes are after 3 hours in a decanter and at room temp. Ridiculous nose. Floral, bright honey, cracked stone powder, and nose-tingling , just ripe tropical fruit. Almost the theoretical exemplar of pure in the mouth. Fresh and juicy. Light as a feather yet mouthfilling. What a tightrope this walks.

Nov 26th, 2016Melon, green apple, armpit, cantaloupe on this very friendly and vivid nose. Palate is elegant and ripe with elegant and mineral tinged fruit. Nice freshness.

Nov 30th, 2015Didn’t love it. Extremely sour. Waiting a day didn’t help.

Sep 8th, 2024Wow. This is my best nosegasm of the year so far; nougat, candied orange peel, pine needles, and candy cap mushroom.
Not as heavy on the pallete as I expected - Low acids, some light tannins, nice finish.
A great pairing wine- I would serve this with some fatty fatty salmon tartar!
