Emilio Lustau
Fino Jarana Very Dry Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino
This fino sherry (100% Palomino grapes) has a mineral-driven nose with notes of dried apricots a bit of yeastiness and a bit of nuttiness. The palate is bone dry, loaded with minerality and showing stone fruit and citrus, but in muted fashion. It tastes rather like a vermouth. It’s the minerals that take center stage. The acidity is decent, but it won’t rip out your taste buds. The mouthfeel is round, while the finish is long and features a nutty display of - you guessed it - minerals.

Nov 10th, 2021Years ago I was at a Valdespino tasting & the leader threw some shade at Lustau because their wine didn’t mostly come from proprietary land. I say this not because I don’t like Lustau but because it always lurks at the back of my mind, & wonder how that experience impacts my experience. This fino is broad & yeasty, which is to say not particularly distinctive. Still, a deal at 15/16$— In this case the Valdespino Fino wins hand down

Jul 21st, 2021Pale lemon with medium aromas of bread dough, nuts and citrus notes. On the palate this dry Sherry shows flavors of almonds, black currant leaf and lemon zest. Medium finish ending with biscuit character. Drink now no bottle aging benefit. Tasting Sample.

Oct 24th, 2018Admittedly my first Fino sherry but it was rather enjoyable. Bone dry with savoury herb and almond undertones. Good by itself and makew an excellent Bamboo cocktail as well! ($17) [5/13/20]
