This is what Barolo is meant to smell and taste like. Beautiful notes of dried cherry, tar, leather, balsamic, Herbes de Provence, truffles and a wet forest floor. Big, rustic tannins that need much decanting at this stage, but this is one to age for awhile, even in a hot vintage like this.

Wow. This nose is stupid good. Like a blend of great ancient oolong teas and a spice bazaar. Also wood shavings from wood shop, NOT OAK, but awesome wood shavings. Really complex. Like really complex. Very floral as well. Like a bouquet of roses and nice underlying minerality as well. Total instant wow nose as soon as you open the bottle. Stupid complex. Palate needs 30 minutes if you are gonna open this young. Amazing palate complexity and serious tannins that merit the riserva designation but also a significant amount of fruit. Huge, intense and explosive fruit. Wow. Is this juicy or what? The tannins, while being big and furry are totally in balance, in a zen like way with the rest of the wine. Impressive length. Ideally I think in 10 years this will give some of the big boys a run for the money. Huge mineral slab finish like you were just sucking on a rock. Tannins stay with you. This is awesome and an insane value at $50. This wine is soooooo long. Wow.

Sep 4th, 2020Obv predisposed to love this wine with comfort food from Alinea... opened not long ago, nose of plums, black cherry, and gym socks(?) followed by silky and grippy tannins, and a touch of licorice.

Apr 23rd, 2020Färgen har börjat dra lite åt tegel. Doften har de klassiska barolomarkörerna och skvallrar även den om en viss liten utveckling. Bra syra och koncentrerade smaker av körsbär, apelsinzest, läder, tobak, lite nypon och en markerad mineralsälta. Finkorniga, uttorkande tanniner, len textur och behaglig alkohol. Långt fint slut. Vansinnigt gott.

Great but needs another 2 years. Spice chocolate. Dark fruits. Dark dark dark. Not hugely fruit though. Almost smoky and very dry. Lovely rose internal aromatics. Wow. Bought from Fass Selections. ... really elegant. Powerful but perfumey. An intense perfume. Still juicy. Great structure.
