Maturing nicely, this is in the tertiary zone with pronounced dried red fruits, savory spices and roasted meats, with plenty of iron and volcanic soil notes. The tannin have resolved into a fine and elegant structure. Acidity is intact and well integrated. The flavor intensity is high, elegant, and persistent, very light on its feet as it sails into a long, mature finish.

This will pair perfectly with pasta and lighter fowl, gane or meat dishes. Pastas it will excel with red sauces, pestos or any lighter sauces that are savory with garlic and herbs at their core.

Drink now or hold 5 years more.

Dry. Tannins. Delish. Consistently good stuff and HQPR.

This was great. Barnyard funk on the nose. Dry. Vibrant. Good stuff. Plenty of legs in this. Big tannins.

Medium garnet; medium intensity aromas of red plum, black plum skin, pomegranate, blackberry, rose petals, licorice, black pepper, dried herbs, volcanic minerality; dry, high acid, medium plus refined tannins, high alcohol, full body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; medium plus finish, incredibly concentrated and complex, outstanding

I have had more underwhelming Aglianicos than wines of any other supposedly noble grape (not counting many disappointing Malbecs in this calculation because in no way is Malbec noble . . . but I digress). So many are overextracted, tannic, scorchy messes. But this one is very good. The nose displays intense smoky, stony minerality (yes, evocative of volcanic soil). There’s also an animal note on top of the very dark cherry fruit. In the mouth the intense minerality leads again, with smoky, savory notes. But there is some fruit there, and the tannins, while still making themselves felt, are in check. Nice acids too. This is a really distinctive and nicely done take on this obviously tricky varietal.

We’ve been embarrassing slow at exploring the greatness of the noble Aglianico grape in Sweden.
Full bodied and powerful but remains fresh and vibrant with plenty of energy and a mineral nerve. Somewhat unleashed and needs time to breath to unfold. Black Cherries, Currants, red plums with a floral lavendel like lifted followed by baking spice, sweet tobacco and a warm stone mineralogy that brings tension and energy.
Fresh acidity and mouth coating tannins with a powdery texture that is well integrated in the good fruit concentration and full body with an expansive complexity and long finish.

Gamey and funky aroma with lots of yummy fruit when you sip—blueberry and dark cherry, with a long finish, a little briny undertone, puckering acid. Was lovely with a ragu. 👏🏾

A beautiful wine from southern Italy. I’ve never had the Aglianico grape before, wow! Big red wine to pair with ribs tonight. Will not let the Saharan dust cloud ruin my BBQ! Cheers!

Placeholder. This is super young, tight, dry, lots of tannins. Oh btw that was on day 3. Cellar for 5 years and revisit.
