Very classic Napa Cab that flies down the middle. The bouquet was ripe raspberries and blackberries, small note of currant and cedar. Front palate was incredibly soft and retained nice acidity...crushed blackberries, graphite, strawberry skin, and smoke. However, the middle and end on the palate felt a bit flat. Decanting improved it a small bit, but it lost weight after entry and the structure wavered. Lower in ABV than many Napa cabs, so maybe that threw me off. It still had a great balance of red and black fruits, hibiscus, and dark chocolate covered plum. Textbook 2014 in terms of accessibility and plush nature.

Clove, blackberry, forest floor, olive tapinade, violets. Aromatic, pronounced. Not a typical fruit bomb from Napa, but rather a fine example of Bordeaux style. Very elegant and well-balanced. One of my favourite producers in Napa!

HUMP DAY! Welcome to Wednesday and I have opened the 2013 Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon St. Helena. Made up of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc.

Then aromas from this wine are very enticing and full. There are loads of black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, milk chocolate, sweet licorice, violet, vanilla and loamy soil.

On the palate the nose is confirmed with, juicy black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, black currant, black raspberry, chocolate, licorice and notes of smokey oak.

The wine is well balanced with medium + acidity, medium + tannins like fine sandpaper that are a little grippy. There is a long finish with a lush full body feel.

Totally enjoy this wine that drinks well now and has at least 10 -20 good years.

Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🖒

A little muted on the nose...fruits and minerals. Lean body. Ripe blackberries, black plum, blueberries, dry dark raspberries, baking spices, dusty dark minerals, crushed dry rocks, wild flowers, dry grass, mid + tannins and acidity. Nice round dry fruit finish.

A classic Napa style of yesteryear, with plenty of savory spice balancing the dark fruit, well-integrated oak, silky tannins and acidity. Moderate alcohol level is a bonus.
