Pale Ruby. The colour belies the rich nose and beautiful rich palate. My notes say “could not spit this out “ which you need to do for many of them because after 34 Grand Crus one will have drunk approx 1 1/2 litres of wine and not only be legless but not able to adequately judge the final bracket of 6 Vosne Romanee GCs which you definitely would not be spitting out! This Mazoyeres was my equally Top pointed Wine in the Gevrey bracket

Starting to open up, but likely better a few more years down the road. 2005s never seem to age! Nose was heavy of red fruit and game-y notes, palate was broad and powerful with ripe red fruits. We opened the bottle and let it sit for about an hour which helped it open up some.

Likely the most savory of aromas I've experienced from Burgundy, this is our first experience with 2005. Nose has savory cherry, hints of rich/concentrated tomato sauce, maybe some light game meat and saturated oak.

Palate has ripe cherry, light oak, the savory notes continue and seems like fresh red pepper/basil blend, oak on the medium finish.

This has changed since the decant, initially it had a fun bacon/cherry nose, so I expect it to continue to evolve. We'll be pairing this with duck confit over a green lentil salad.

Food pairing update: Perfect! Savory notes mellowed, cherry fruits picked up. Food pairing with this bottle is 9.3+.

Dark red fruit. Noticeable wood. Lush fruit, with glycerin. Dense and thick. Young but good material- but I think will never have great finesse

Bright Ruby color. Intense nose of red berries, red currant and spice. Medium body, fairly complex with a very long finish. A little young, but very tasty.

Stunning. The 07's are drinking so well right now. Framboise confiture and spice on the nose. Velvety texture and a longer finish than expected. A perfect pairing with my Pigeon dish here at Le Montrachet.

Ruby garnet color. Funky nose at first, but that blew off quickly. Red fruit and slight blue fruit on the nose with hints of spice. Medium+ body, very smooth with a long finish. Drinks very well.

2nd in Gevrey bracket. Touch of beetroot on palate. Medium bodied and sinewy. Good persistence.
