Schlossberg Alsace Grand Cru Riesling

Mid lemon in colour. Aromas of white flowers and honeysuckle. Quite a creamy palate - fulsome - almost tricks you into thinking Residual Sugar and low ABV but No - this was 13.5 % alcohol. A ripe mandarin note on the palate. In summary quite delicious. From half bottle (375ml).

2014 Vintage wow pretty apricot , petrol (slight kerosene)- medium bodied , spiced apricot , great acidity

Aromas of ripe stone fruits and zesty citrus notes. On the palate expressive fruits of apple with bits of pear and peach, wrapped in vivid lemon citrus. Long finish, well balanced ending clean with zesty fruit character. Can age this for a decade or more. Tasting Sample.

Pale lemon. Citrus notes and a touch of kerosene. On palate lemon and honey and cumquat. More fruit driven than mineral with white peach evident. More sweet than you would expect from 13.5 % Alcohol. This is the Signature Wine of Paul Blanck - the Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling. A lovely Riesling from 375ml in this case.

A wine that divided the class. Some called for it to be outstanding and other just acceptable, I was bang in between. Lillies, orange blossom, white peach, green melon and wet stones. Youthful. Dry with pretty high acid that defines the wine and creates linearity. Slight chalky finish and decent length. Sort of wine I’d get around.
