Oct 31st, 2019Having my dessert first. Co-fermented field blend of Alsatian varietals. Viscous texture, plenty of sweet flavors of course but not to the point of being cloying. Honey cake, dried apricot, orange, acacia, a little petrol and botrytis, acid is not front and center but playing a strong supporting role to hold things together

Sep 22nd, 2018Medium nose with lemon, pear, yellow peach, yogurt, creme brûlée, lychee and a hint of baking spice. Medium plus body with similar notes on the palates. Very long finish. Slightly sweet but enough acid to finish dry. Mouthwatering, complex and balanced.

Apr 2nd, 2017Outstanding smoky nose, lychee, kumquat, strawberries during a rainfall (marcel deiss exclusive note!), marmalade, honeydew melon, kerosene, the panoply of fruit notes goes on... A deep amber color, suggesting a heavyweight sweet wine, but the riveting acid and uncanny finesse of this wine gives it a buoyancy on the palate that is remarkable. Rich and long, seamless tapestry of lychee and marmalade and melon fruit notes, I find I'm running out of the bottle so fast...purchased as the star from the winery 2 years ago, will last easily 15 more years. A star of Alsace!

Sep 28th, 2015Quite impressive although we opened it way too early. Round, mellow and lacking acidity, this Deiss is at baby stage and feels flabby. Give it time, leave it on the cellar for a while.
