Cuvée les Rochettes Bourgueil Cabernet Franc

Tonight the night before NewYears Eve I have opened the 2012 Domaine Les Pins Cuvée les Rochettes Bourgueil. 100% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose therr is some strange corked wet newspaper that the more I allow it to sit and open up those aromas tend to blow off. After letting set for awhile brambly fruit comes through with, ripe strawberry, cherry, raspberry, tomato, chard oak, peppery earth and crushed gravel.

The palate is very nice with strawberry coming through, tart cherry, raspberry, green bell pepper, herbs and crushed gravel.

This wine is medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + sandy tannins that has a longtart fruit crushed gavel finish. Tomorrow starts the New Year weekend and lets bring this bad boy 2020 to an end. Enjoy yourselves and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Branchy & funky, near my upper limit of acceptability for the latter. Bramble fruit.

Been too long since I've had this wine. A regular on my dance card. Perhaps the best $13 you can spend in the Loire or beyond...

Nice $13 sippin wine. Great with burrata, heirloom tomatoes on crostini.

A little too branchy for me.

I mean, I like earthy wines but this is more like being buried alive in dirt. When a wine gets panned for being unbalanced, it's usually for being too fruity or tannic. This is more like A Clockwork Orange treatment of terroir.

Dirt, cheese, and pyrazines. A full cab franc.

A Loire Cab Franc with some weight and ripeness of fruit. Fairly classic otherwise.

Yeasty. Not nearly as good as prior bottle of same vintage
