Tis the season for soul warming Languedoc reds. This was the basic faugeres, carignane/Grenache/cinsault blend. Soft and mellow, black cherry fruit has maybe dried out a little, slightly brown even, but still there, plus olives, herbs, some subtle brett. Is it more fun than a Barral of monkeys? Not quite but a nice drink

Sep 9th, 2018Second time tasting this wine with different vintage. Earthy, herbal, a little funky, dark berry and cherry note, menthol with wet potting soil, unripe to ripe fruit notes. Distinctive on the nose but tasty!

Jan 3rd, 2018Ridded w/ biological activity in this bottle, from slight spritz, volatility, and considerable particulate and haze. Quite possibly the most 4-EP/4-EG riddled wine I’ve had. This had been in the cellar for a bit, curious what a day will do. After 2 hours some musky fruit was beginning to show. A little disappointed but bottle variation and “living” wines are par for the course w/ Barral. Day 2: overwhelming brett and mousiness 😂😂😂
