The 09 is drinking well with a little decanting. Black berry fruit comes right out. A stoic wine for sure.

Jan 7th, 2015Nice grippy tannins, earthy , mushroom nose, smooth, balanced. Would pair great with duck, lamb and beef. Wish I had more in the cellar.

Sep 20th, 2013Tasting in progress. On a Provençal red kick right now and exploring various expressions. This one game highly recommended from Flatiron Wines. Nose right upon popping the cork is super intense rustic spices & herbs. Has some deep bay leave or basil note, rosemary, pepper, etc. Palate is super rustic and earthy. Same herbal and spicy notes but a dominant cigar tobacco note comes thru on the palate with a bitter coffee bean note on the finish. Pretty powerful, needs to open up for a couple hours to settle down and integrate. After 24 hours open this one turns smoooooth and integrates incredibly well. the power softens a lot. this is a delcicious savory wine that highlights an “old tobacco” kind of flavor that is super fun.
