Night 2 notes. Fragrant nose has intense apple skin with a squeeze of lemon juice. Freshly-cracked stone. Very intense flavors with loads of dry extract and acid. Really fine, but needs several years.

Dec 18th, 2017Fresh and pretty nose of ripe, crisp golden apples and an undercurrent of stony minerality. In the mouth, great acidity buoys up bone dry flavors of green apple and citrusy fruit. Very fresh and elegant.

Nov 25th, 2017I’m in heaven, oh so heaven! Pale gold color, liquid sunshine. Stone fruit, luscious peaches, lemon curd, honeysuckle, steely minerality. Racy acidity with just the slightest hint of petrol on the finish.

Domaine Jean-Marc Bernhard Riesling Wineck-Schlossberg 2015.
Dry, bracing, excellent balance of fruit and soil. Good as an aperitif and with food.

Today was my annual hosting of the Wednesday Wine Committee. There was 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert, all provided by me. Tasted blind, as always.
White number one. In comparison to other Alsatian Rieslings I enjoy, this was certainly more on the mellow side. Even after time in the glass, very little notes of petrol or limestone. This showed more like a SB or better yet, an older Alsatian Pinot Gris. Had some oily characteristics with grilled Meyer lemon and honeyed chalk, but certainly more restrained in style. Obviously of nice quality, I think this is just the style to be more friendly with pairings as it paired well with crab cakes.

Different but awesome. Tastes of perfume: melon, honeysuckle, and aerosol scents. Slight nose but wonderful taste. Drink it with garlic hummus and enjoy the contrast. Minimal acid and sugar, super easy to quaff.
