God global warming is soooo helping Loire reds. This is a delicious inexpensive weeknight wine. Ripe nose (a phrase that would have been unheard of to describe a Loire Cab Franc 30 years ago) shows ripe black cherry and blueberry along with some brambly notes and sweet spices. Round and ripe, but with just a hint of that machine oil thing that tells you where it’s from. Tannin in check and good acids. Very pleasurable. Seriously, the Loire simply was incapable of producing a wine like this except once in a blue moon before 1990.

Great Chinon, small production- dark fruit and a tickle of smoke- not nearly as frightening as the name implies.

Cherry nose, initial menthol taste giving way to slight anise and hints of vanilla. Tannic finish.

Very solid wine. Bright flavors and very easy to drink. A bit dry. Anise and cherries on the nose. Long finish with cherries, blackberries and a hint of smoke.
