Jan 2nd, 2021Great aged chenin notes right off the bat. Hay, mushroom, wet wool and beeswax. Then as it opens up it is floral with acacia and white flowers. Quite dry with huge saline minerality and biting acid. High tone and pretty though could use more time to mellow. I’ll likely wait another 5 years on the next bottle.

Nov 14th, 2020I’ll admit it. I had no idea Huet made a sparkler. They do and it’s really good. All chenin blanc (obviously) and at 10 years old it’s starting to drink well but could definitely go longer. Bone dry, chalky and with pear and lychee notes abounding. A nice change up in sparklers.

Mar 1st, 2018Oh boy. So we’re at Ca’Va in Kansas City and lo and behold they have the 2009 Huet Brut Reserve on the list. Winning. My quick notes: the Huet pours a golden straw color with a slowly dissipating moussé. On the nose: gorgeous fresh brioche, lemon curd, and wet limestone. On the palate, underripe white peach and loads of lemon citrus. High acid yet so beautifully balanced. Laser etched. I want so much more of this in my life!
