Domaine Huet
Le Mont Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc
The gold standard of Vouvray Sec and Le Mont is always my favorite of the 3 Huets.

Apr 1st, 2024Still my favorite of the Huet Sec wines. And a steal at the price.

Sep 29th, 2023Amazing. Honey, waxy, almost abrasive fresh flowers (in an amazing way) hay, wet wool, mandarin orange, spice, medium plus bodied and unbelievable acidity. WOW.

Apr 5th, 2023God these are such beautiful wines. Floral beyond belief, with such a precise, finely woven tapestry of a bouquet. Settles and spreads on the tongue like molten taffy, ever so subtle rs cloaked in vigorous minerality and a great swath of satsuma mandarin and yellow peach acids.

Oct 29th, 2022This wine is a winner. Perfect balance at a young age. Somewhere between a Viognier and a Chardonnay in mouthfeel and texture. Good acidity and a long and enjoyable finish. Highly recommended! Cheers everyone!

Oct 8th, 2022Presented to me double-blind. The wine appears a deep burnished golden color with medium+ viscosity. Notes of baked apples, white flowers, chamomile minerals and a petrol thing. On the palate, medium+ acid. Confirming the fruit but the apples are spiced and there’s a slightly nutty, oxidized thing going. Alcohol seems elevated too. Loads of character. The color and oxidization suggested it was a combo of style and age; I figured 10-15 years. I vacillated between Alsatian Riesling GC or a Chenin from the Loire by a great producer. Ultimately, I called 2010 Savennières as it actually reminded me of Joly’s “Clos de la Bergerie”. LOL! Close!!! These Huet Sec’s age amazing 🥲.

Feb 9th, 2022Probably shouldn’t have opened this so so young. It’s delicious and elegant but still embryonic and thus hard to evaluate. Melon, kiwi and quince on the nose and palate. Very bright, tart, with a touch of sweetness but hasn’t taken on density yet. 9.3 for now
Update: easy 9.4 by day 3… it’s now a full blown freak show of kaleidoscopic fruit. Expect this will be even better with a few years.
