Do you like Beaujolais? Do you love Beaujolais? You really should. This will help you with that. Light, transparent ruby with dark plum edges and a fun fun nose. Boysenberry and blueberry. Strawberry and cherry. Mint and earth. So much earth.

This is typical Fleurie and mightily delicious. Medium bodied and dangerously easy to drink. Juicy and well crafted, definitely a notch above others. There’s depth here but don’t worry too much about all that, this is about the fun and the fun only. Vibrant and vivacious fruit on the palate with so much character. Nice finish with some cinnamon and spice. Terrific terrific stuff.

Very well-balanced and bright expression of Gamay. Clear purplish ruby appearance. Black raspberry and spice on the nose. Young blueberry and raspberry notes on the palate, balanced perfectly with medium acid. A very nice wine.

Enjoyed a glass at Mister Jiu’s. Not the most expressive Gamay and a poor pairing choice with my spicy / seafood heavy meal but still glad I tried.

This Cru Beaujolais is a natural beauty. I’m really excited about it.

Made from the Gamay grape, hailing from Fleurie in Northern Beaujolais region of France, this wine is medium ruby.

It has medium(+) intensity of youthful, bright, yet also concentrated aromas, which are primary-note driven. Aromas include notes of ripe cherry, black raspberry, banana, strawberry shortcake, orange peel, potpourri, anise, clove, licorice, and wet stone.

On the palate, this wine is dry. It has medium(+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, medium tannins, and medium(+) intensity in flavors consistent with the nose but more tart and fresh. This wine has a medium finish.

Also, I love the label. I’m a sucker for beautiful artwork on labels. I saw it and had to try it. I’m glad I did.

Domaine Gregoire Hoppenot, Fleurie, Origines. Vintage 2018. ABV 12.5%.
