Top Notes For
"Odedi"

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fresh cherries on the nose with chocolate notes.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing red cherries, currants, plums, licorice, chocolates, herbs and earth.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich and powerful. Well balanced and complex. The high alcohol is well integrated already.

Nicely Structured and tasty, with a
Northern Rhone feel. Interesting stuff.

Still young, but already drinking beautifully. A great vintage that is already showing its potential. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre. Aged in mostly concrete vats.

15% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$50.

This wine is terrific. Made from 90-year-old vine grenache (85%), 60-year-old Mourvèdre (10%) and 5% Syrah. The wine was aged in concrete 18 months with only the syrah seeing oak. It is juicy with notes of bright strawberry, raspberry, red currant. Blackberry, spiced red cherries, and an subtle hint of herbal garrigue in the background with leather, kirsch and clove. Much more elegant than you might assume on learning it has 15.5% alcohol. A beautiful wine with surprisingly bright acidity - very long on the palate.

I vacillate between “my tastes have changed and I no longer like Chateauneuf du Pape like I used to” and “I’m the only person who can be honest about Chateauneuf du Pape these days.” Anyway, this has a pleasant nose of wet river stones and dark raspberry. But in the mouth it’s heavy and ungainly. Pretty rich but basically an overweight non-athlete. Compared to its current peers, it’s pretty good. But compared to CDP of the 70s, 80s, and 90s (I’ll add 2001 to that list), it’s just disappointing.

As advertised....red fruit driven, smoky, meaty, pepper, dried fruit/baked, leather, firm tannins and acid and boozy...overall well balanced wine not meant for easy relaxed drinking and needs some food!

Actually 2013: 90% Grenache, topped up with Syrah & Mouvevdre. More closed, and jammy. Powerful, tannic, needs time.

2018 was just a weird year. This had zero tannic structure. ZERO. Still lots of great dark fruit flavor and some herbal notes, maybe some tobacco, but flabby.

Wow! 😍
This is really outstanding.
Somehow, this wine shows a lot of Syrah/Mourvedre character. Black cherries, warm blackberry pie, grilled meat, cocoa nibs, Asian spice, damp earth, warm chestnuts... wonderful!
On the palate this has tremendous balance, soft tannines, gentle acidity, no overbearing Grenache-sweetness. Such a terrific mouthfeel. Clean, savoury, not rustic at all.
Superb, and exactly how I like my grenache dominant Red Rhone-blends, which are a bit of a hit and miss in my book...
Completely agree with Jeb’s/TWA score.
Insane QPR, as well.
