Domaine Dujac
Aux Combottes Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Dujac fans know how great they did in ‘06, Jeremy Seysses’ first vintage in full control. Aux Combottes, a Premier Cru surrounded by Grand Cru’s on all four sides, is fabulous in 2006, fully open and giving wafting an unmistakable Dujac perfume with elegant spiced red berry fruit, cocoa and Gevrey earth. It’s liquid velvet on the palate, notably impressive for the vintage, with superb balance of fruit character, minerality and fine grained tannic structure. Terrific showing.

Jan 11th, 2025Absolutely delicious. Lifted aromatics with hibiscus, rose petal and dark red cherry. Will only improve with time.

Nov 18th, 2022The nose is quite stunning. Explodes with Dujac whole cluster spice, violets, and dark fruit. Palate needs some time to catch up, as it’s a bit austere, reduced and not overly persistent. But it’s clear the stuffing is there. 2013’s, however, both Combottes and Charmes at this point in time, I’d say are more integrated between aromas and palate and are more expressive overall. 12’s, although eventually the better vintage, seem to still require a bit more patience to reap the benefits.

Aug 14th, 2021Hard as nails right out of the bottle but really opened at the 30 minute mark. Definitely stems present and I love the spice it adds to the aromas. Beautiful wine.

Oct 31st, 2020Tawny color. Not giving much in the nose, even with several hours of air. Notes of rhubarb, dried red fruit, some wood and a little spice. Pleasant mouth feel. Not as opulent as other 01 Dujac wines. This was more tame and not giving what I was hoping for. Still has the fruit and bones to get better (I hope).

Dec 4th, 2019I sincerely believe this is one of the best representations of pinot noir from this region/producer. Happy holidays! @Bill Bender
