My favorite “normal” Crozes. Beef blood, violets, green olive, granite and smoke. Gorgeous expressive nose. Palate is so juicy and ripe with exceptionally pure fruit. Elegant and persistent. Velvety and nimble tannins. Super juicy and drinking so well now. Powers finish.

Vintage 2011 this has developed beautiful: half transparant colour, velvety approach on the tongue. Tremendous good smell of flint, stable and red fruit, vannila and cedar. Peppers, of course a lot of Peppers. Paired with ribeye from the bbq, makes me very happy.

A very pure, terroir-driven red Rhone. 12.5% abv and lots of acidity. It wasn't lacking in red and black fruit, garrigue, pepper, and earthy mineral tones either. Costs $20 or so retail.

Deep ruby. Lively aromas of fresh, spice-tinged dark berries and candied flowers pick up a suggestion of smoked meat as the wine opens up. Clean and nervy in style, offering energetic blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of cracked pepper. Finishes sweet, silky and long, leaving a note of violet pastille behind. Stinky, fruity, balanced, complex. Clearly Syrah. Not the power of Côte Rotie, Cornas or Hermitage. Too big to be St. Joseph. Great!
