Domaine du Colombier
Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
My favorite “normal” Crozes. Beef blood, violets, green olive, granite and smoke. Gorgeous expressive nose. Palate is so juicy and ripe with exceptionally pure fruit. Elegant and persistent. Velvety and nimble tannins. Super juicy and drinking so well now. Powers finish.

Feb 8th, 2020Vintage 2011 this has developed beautiful: half transparant colour, velvety approach on the tongue. Tremendous good smell of flint, stable and red fruit, vannila and cedar. Peppers, of course a lot of Peppers. Paired with ribeye from the bbq, makes me very happy.

Apr 22nd, 2019Classic body, light and streamlined and gravel fine tannins that persist. Pastrami muted nose. Needs time. Good kick up front fruit and earth, more fruit on the finish. Methinks it tasty and powerful for CH

2 people found it helpfulFeb 7th, 2013Deep ruby. Lively aromas of fresh, spice-tinged dark berries and candied flowers pick up a suggestion of smoked meat as the wine opens up. Clean and nervy in style, offering energetic blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of cracked pepper. Finishes sweet, silky and long, leaving a note of violet pastille behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, September 2019)

Mar 26th, 2016Stinky, fruity, balanced, complex. Clearly Syrah. Not the power of Côte Rotie, Cornas or Hermitage. Too big to be St. Joseph. Great!

Dec 15th, 2015Roast meat, olive, and ripe black fruit with the structure to match. Great balance, but a tightly wound. With just a little air it blossoms beautifully.
