Domaine de Marquiliani
Vin de Corse Rosé Gris de Marquiliani
The 2022 Rosé Gris de Marquiliani is pretty and understated in the glass with a subtle blend of white smoke and young peaches. Silky and refined, this washes easily across the palate, guided by juicy acidity that further enhances its ripe orchard fruits. The 2022 turns toward the savory spectrum, finishing salty and mineral in style yet leaving the mouth salivating for more. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2023)

Jun 22nd, 2023Stuck inside and dreaming of better days abroad or just in a backyard with friends?
This wine helped me take a little escape to the island of Corsica, the home of the one and only Napoleon Bonaparte. This is one of 2 amazing rose wines from Marquiliani. This was my first Gris rose from Marquiliani and it's been a few years since I hade the regular rose.
Domaine Marquiliani is one of the top producers of wine (and olive oil & almonds) on the island and are a small family owned and operated by Anne Amalric and her father Daniel who founded the modern history of this winery in the 1950s.
Pale and watery in color, this is the "Gris" rose. Gorgeous notes of pink citrus, jasmine florals, minerals and fennel seed, no doubt from the high dose of Syrah in the blend. The wine grew tremendously in the glass and after an hour it was firing on all cylinders. Elegant on the palate with a stunning density and length on the nose. Pure and refreshing, it appealed to both the intellectual and hedonistic side of my tastes. Gorgeous, buying more ASAP!
.
- 50% Sciaccarellu, 40% Syrah, 10% Vermentino
- 2 ha of vines in schist and granite gravel with silt soils, planted 1964
- direct press rose and cold-soaked for 72 hours!!
- fermented in stainless and sees NO Malo

Drink your rose' fresh.
Most of the fruit has faded by 2023, matches the pale baby pink glow. Nearly vacant aromas with memories of green strawberries that probably gave this lift a year prior. There's still vibrancy in the mouth. Texture and acid and saturated concentration.
I've loved this wine before, today it's missing the little things that made it perk.

Jun 14th, 2023This delicious Rosé has the slightest tint of salmon pink to it....the body is Medium+ and lush!! Tastes of strawberries..honeydew and savory herbs! Acidity is medium and renders a nice long finish! I would say this is the second best Rosé for me! I nice selection from Kermit Lynch...unfortunately the last time I checked it was no longer available..🙄 Vintage 2017

Sep 6th, 2017I don't know about the "drinking pink clouds" marketing hoo-haa, but it's a damn fine and singular Rosé. Sweet but not cloying, tart but not biting. Just right tonight.

Jun 11th, 2017Wow is this good. Who knew this could be so spot on coming up on 3 years after Vintage. Very little nose but the refreshing acid, mineral and dry finish is wonderful. They have been described as drinking a cloud and that is a perfect descriptor. Well done.
