Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)
Échézeaux Pinot Noir
Layers of perfumed black currants, mushrooms, grilled venison. Intense saturating dark alluring fruit that finishes long and mostly crowds out the dry tannin

Feb 4th, 2016Quite light center , ruby going garnet , quite wide watery garnet rim . Lightly floral , undergrowth and red fruit aromas , showing development but within the expected for the vintage and age . Crunchy red berries. More violet red berry fruit on the palate. The body is quite light but the fruit is sweet and the acidity balanced but crisp , tannin is still noticeable and it’s probable that some improvement may still come from more time in the cellar. This is probably just entering into its window of drinkability however . Reasonably long length. Not a great vintage of the Ech but satisfying and true to the vintage, probably will improve with a bit more time .
