Struck match and intense citrus. Limestone. Real verve and length. Great fun.

Deep gold color. Sweet, fruit forward nose. Notes of apricot, pineapple, kiwi, white flowers, some baked apples and some tan spice. Rich and round in the mouth. Subtle but very present acidity. Past it’s peak perhaps, but it’s a really nice aged white burg. Great mouth feel and finish. Cuts through the cheese and spreads it’s served with. Drink up soon so as not to miss what this has left in the tank.

First sips in Paris 🥰

Coche is so fn good it really makes you stop, put your glass down and think about it. Reduction blows off to reveal layers of stone fruit, Meyer lemon, buttered popcorn and white flowers. There is such incredible texture and depth to this wine and its pulsating energy and acidity is seamlessly balanced in combination with its richness and density. It threads the needle between power and elegance. Fabulous.

Tour d’Argent. Medium gold. Heavy. A stark contrast in color and nose to the 89 Dauvissat. Fine grained acidity develops with air, producing notes of apricot, river stone, minerals, sweet fruit and some spice. Whereas this started strong and maintained its performance all day, the Dauvissat grew in power. Fun to contrast the two. 99 Coche across the portfolio has shown to be amazing.

Le Parc at Les Crayeres in Reims. Light canary gold. Young and bright in the glass. Great Coche nose. Penetrating power. Notes of lemon, crushed rocks, petrol. In the mouth it’s rich but lacking the acidity and intensity I was expecting. Even after 3 hours of air, the structure was modest. It made this an easy to drink wine tonight, but with no acidity backbone this seems questionable for long term aging. Maybe just in a dumb phase but the Cochey nose was memorable.

High fill. Yellow gold. Vibrant. In the nose , the Coche funk hits you right away. Stones and petrol matched with great fruit and acidity that makes your face flush. This got better and better with air. Notes show I crossed out and upgraded my rating several times. Last word written was “huge”. Great wine. This performed better than the 90 Coche Perrieres last year. BDay dinner 4/12.

Stunning, smokey, complexity, depth, roundness, length amplifying with every drop. Bowing to greatness.

So charming and complex. White mushroom, honey, marzipan, orange blossom, dried nectarine and pineapple, almost some truffle notes. Still young. All the elements are integrated perfectly. What an eye opener! Impressive.
