Domaine Cheysson
Chiroubles Gamay
I’m finding that 4-5 years is the sweet spot for many of the Cru Beaujolais and this confirms that expectation. Fruit but not to jammy, nice savoury notes, lovely acidity and good length. A much nicer alternative to many lower end Côte d’Or options.

Mar 22nd, 2020Just popped the top and within a few minutes of me playing, swirling, sipping, observing, it is beginning to show its true color and related characteristics. Good spice on the nose peppering and prepping for the rush of tight cherries coupled with black and blue berries begging to let lounge a bit longer finding its place in the decanter before a turbo twirl or two and a slow pour into a pinotesque bowl and related smokestack begging for twisting, turning and jitterbug spinning until dizzy enough to lie down and slow dance across one's palate clinging front back and center with tannins still pulling a cheek biting pucker then drifting home but not before leaving its memory layer languishing linear and long. A Gamay gift from Beaujolais...🍷💙🌀

1 person found it helpfulOct 28th, 2015Super easy drinking red that can go with everything. Love how you can have it chilled or cool room temperature. It's light with some cherry and licorice. It's a fun, easy beaujolais. Love a good chillable wine and can totally see myself drinking this on the regular.
Color: dark rich red color like a red plum. Reminds me od communion grape juice and wine but with a lovely red halo.
Aroma: light aroma with some black cherry scents and a super light licorice under aroma, super light.
Taste: Served slightly chilled. It's super light like a beaujolais, some light black cherry. It kinda reminds me of cherry dr pepper but not sweet and light and delicate in flavor.

Bolder than the usual Cru de Beaujolais with a spice at the end. Let sit for 30 or more
