Some initial cellar funk on the nose that blew off and then this continued to reveal more and more fruit over the next couple hours. That last glass finally revealing the potential and showing that this will still improve with a few more years in bottle.

Still has some wood to digest, but pretty balance between ripeness, earth, and garrigue. Would prefer less cooperage, but quite good with grilled lamb and the summer version of the polar vortex. Rebuy.

I was a little sceptical before opening the bottle - 2003 hmmmm! Big surprise - it wasn’t too old - it was smoky, leather, olive and mushrooms - still some tannins - no trace of the cabbage some old ch9 develop with age.
