Still a baby, a bit closed down initially but opened to up to reveal some seductive sweet fruit and spices with haunting earthiness. Black cherries and kirsch, grippy tannins, balsamic reduction, sage and thyme. The youthful vigor this wine is exciting. Decidedly virile and intense, this was a heavenly pairing with roasted elk, mushrooms and blackberry reduction.

Hard to rate. Very closed and withdrawn. Think this will need some more time but will never get a real beauty.

Combottes sits between Latricieres Chambertin and Clos de La Roche. Stems were included here with lifted aromatics and a velvety mouthfeel. Very impressive. The Morey 1er Au Cheseaux is only about 150 meters E of Combottes.
