Not typical of Grenache… monstrous and all over the place. Took three days to smooth out and become drinkable. Had it for Halloween so somewhat appropriate and trick’s on me.

This deep, dark Grenache blend shows a bit of savory funk on the nose, with black olives, meat and tobacco coming through. The palate has cherry and dark berry flavors, along with chalky, earthy notes. The mouthfeel is full andcrefreshing, with enough tannic structure to handle a steak, or any other meat dish. The finish lingers awhile, which is a pleasure.

Blend of two thirds Grenache with the balance a blend of Syrah, Carignan and Liedoner Pelut. Dark ruby color with a pronounced garnet rim. Aromas of dried black fruit, forest floor, prunes, tomato leaf and wet slate. Bold flavors of red, black and blue berries, dark chocolate, black tea, Asian spices and cola. Long, plush and generous finish. Medium tannins and Medium-plus body. High acidity and noticeable (too much) alcohol (15.5% ABV). Slightly syrupy texture. High intensity, power and complexity. Better with aeration.
