Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend

Savory. Tangy fruit. In good shape but a little unfruity.

Cigar box, tobacco, bit of smoke. Drinking surprisingly well.

Drank 6/8/18

Nose of cherry and earth. Fairly classic palate of sweet red cherry, leather, and a touch of earth and tomato leaf. Medium + tannins, medium + finish in the 40 second range, with red fruit and drying tannins.

3/21/7/4/4+50 = 89 pts.

Medium garnet; medium intensity aromas of red cherry, red plum, red currant, cinnamon, clove, earth, green tea, smoke; dry, medium plus acid, medium plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium intensity flavors of red cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, wet leaves; long finish

Riserva. Regrettably, well past its prime.

Great Chianti with old world styling and structure. Loved this.

Really loved it. Well priced and had great depth to it.

A bit fleshy and forward

Coincidentally got this in the mail when I have a Sangiovese article due, like yesterday. Organic handpicked grapes, native yeasts. Quintessential Chianti; rustic, with high acid and fuzzy tannins. A good, classic bottle although a bit boring for my taste. Wish I wasn't drinking it without a plate of piping hot pasta, which I will admit may have increased its rating.
