When you’re staying out of town in a hotel you drink what you can get. This merlot is actually pretty decent. It’s been a long day on the road with a delicious dinner. Back on the road homeward bound in the morning.

‘Hand selected lots’. Smells interesting. Spice rack (more fall than summer, pumpkin over Italian). Bit of red roses too. Damask roses. Flavors are a disaster. Classic CA over-oaked flavor. Barrels in your mouth. Vanilla and all that with little redeeming acid or fruit complexity. They might have had a decent wine, but that oaking ruined it!
