Clos de Lunès
Lune d'Argent White Bordeaux Blend
Pale lemon color, stone fruit nose, medium body, medium alcohol, medium acidity. A bit underwhelming on the palate. Dry.

Drank 7/30/28. Nice pairing with Pasta ala Norcina. Really cuts through the richness.
Nose of lemon and stonefruit. Flavors of peach nectarine , and lemon curd with pleasant, yet not overpowering acidity that cuts through the fruit. Some oak integration gives complexity and a rich mouthfeel, yet the oak is barely detectable. One of my favorite value Bordeaux whites.

No grass detected. Lots of lees contact, hint of oak.

Mar 26th, 20182020 vintage. As usual terrific value. 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. Exotic fruit goes hand in hand with zesty acidity. Very good length with a hint of vanilla. Should be even better with a few years of bottle ageing. Abv.13%.

1 person found it helpfulApr 2nd, 2021What a courteous wine, each element and sensation making room for the next. There’s waxiness and pyrazines and honeysuckle and flowers and vanilla beans but they are all teaming up to support citrus. But the team effort shines through. Balanced, delicious, interesting, it is a courteous wine. I don’t know if it is a thrilling one but I’d ask it out again. And maybe again. As the night goes it keeps revealing more of itself to me, I don’t mind seeing more.

1 person found it helpfulDec 28th, 20202019 vintage. Dry white Bordeaux from Sauternes vineyards (70 % Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon blanc) by Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chevalier fame. Lune d'argent is the middle range and the heart of the production of Clos des Lunes. Hard to resist young, but ages well (check my comments on the 2015). At 9,90 euro (!) in my local supermarket this is one of the greatest white wine values ever. Combines the rich exotic fruit of the Semillon with the freshness of Sauvignon, the oak is perfectly integrated and it has amazing complexity and length for this price range (I thought the 2015 tasted this year was very good value at 17,90 euros). Abv. 13%.
