2023 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie. Delicious. A meatier-styled Bojo, the nose displays deep oozy dark berries and black cherries, and granite-packed loam earthiness. Fleshy-textured in the mouth, it’s not a crisp style but it’s still decently fresh. Concentrated and deep flavors of sandstoney minerality and dark berries. A bit of textural tannin provides some framing. Really nice.

Too young for early consumption. Deep Gamay with mouth coating notes of good and plenty candy. Licorice pastille. Blind tasters were in Grenache world and I don’t blame them. Delicious, but too early.

“Let Me Roilette” Sappy blackberry, black cherry, licorice, and gravel. Almost mouth coating. Big but definitely not bad.

Vintage 2018 | a feast of raspberries, vibrant and frivolous taste | paired with a deer burger and gratin of courgettes and tomatoes

Shining example of traditional Beaujolais, if just a tad more rustic than contemporaries of Fleurie.

Great. Ripe vintage but deftly balanced.

Loads of crunchy cherry and granite. Very intense in the mouth. Lowish acids but still a certain amount of energy. Tons of dry cherry extract fruit. Long, pure finish. Fun to drink.

Really great earthy and balanced Gamay. Smooth dark fruits, fresh soil, touch of raw leather. Just great.

Muddy purple umber. Plum, hoisin and nutmeg. Salty, lacking fruit. Age has gotten the better of this.
