A guest brought this wine last Sunday for lunch to our place. Oaky and plummy initially but then black and blue fruits emerged with notes of charcuterie. Clarendon Hills and the vineyards they own are a class act. Full bodied.

Great. Opens with a big old world Syrah nose. Rather than opening further, the wine mutes for a day. 3rd day it opened up again and was velvet… but that initial pow of a nose never came back. If patient, I’ll hold my other bottle half a decade.

Youthful, rich and dense, with a big dose of tobacco. For a 2005, this is a stunning example.

Tragically funky tomato! Was good at one time, but went south. Same result for 2002 Brockman Vineyard!

Very silly smooth syrah. Much lighter than Sine Qua Non but easy to enjoy. Closer to nothern Rhône in texture.

Another Langtons mystery deal. Typical Clarendon Hills volatility and richness but with a lovely backdrop of savory spice.

Another Clarendon Hills aged wine I found recently. Spicier and leaner than the Brookman or Liandra Syrah but still full bodied. Very enjoyable

Could go for miles more I think. Thickly textured and muscular.

30+ minute decant. Pretty much spot on expectations! Deep, dark fruit. High in alcohol. Classic Aussie Syrah. Lots of sediment due to the age.
