Cimarossa
Rive di Cimarossa Cabernet Sauvignon
Opened a few bottles for some friends who are getting in to wine.
I’m a big fan of Cimarossa, especially after visiting back in 2018. Stunning property, people and wines.
This is Cimarossa’s blend of all vineyards. Definitely a bit more soft and approachable in its youth, though Cimarossa isn’t a producer that is normally pop and pour. Signature red clay is apparent here, with notes of red and black currant, espresso, and graphite. Gorgeous balance on the palate with sweet herb crusted black cherries, blackberries, cherry liqueur, sandalwood and fine grained tannins on the finish. As expected, this is a beautiful expression of Rian (dark soft fruits), Levante (bright tannic structure) and Ponente (savory soft fruits). I decanted this about 2hrs and it was delicious. Enjoy now.

Fun afternoon at Classic with great company. Glad you could join us Bryan.
Personally, this epitomizes a wine that was opened at the right time and showed absolutely everything its got. Just a killer showing from a favorite Howell Mtn producer. Every single component was firing on all cylinders...the entire fruit spectrum on display on the nose alongside sandalwood and sweet pipe tobacco. The palate was deceptively dark yet still showed Cimarossa’s signature red clay (at least that’s what I call it). Soft in the beginning with a velvet fist in the middle. Plenty of structure here to cruise for a while. Wonderful bottle @Mark Flesher !

If you don't know Cimarossa yet, you should. Not only do they make 4 different Cabernet from 3 different site positions and soils on a peak way up on Howell Mountain in Napa (#4 is a blend of the 3), Dino has a passion wine of Nebbiolo that imo is the best Nebbiolo outside of Northern Italy.
This is juicy, sleek, with well defined and fresh blackberry and raspberry, ripe and fleshy tannins that let.you know we are on Howell Mountain. 30-45 minutes open in bottle and it was in high gear.

Not much fruit but plenty of flowers. It was like sitting on the porch of your favorite winery smelling the various scents of the Valley. I rocked in my chair, felt the warmth on my face, and sipped this elegant bouquet.

Apr 19th, 2015Dark ruby, vibrant. The nose is pronounced with plum, licorice, spice and cassis. The palate is fresh and fairly balanced, the flavor intensity is in check but full. Medium to full bodied the acidity is great on this and mouthwatering. Really great stuff for the house blend. #howellmountain #cimarossa #napavalley #cabernet
