Maischevergoren Himmel Auf Erden II
This is how you do orange wine. Not oxidative or bitter, it’s vibrant and refreshing, with the maceration contributing structure and dimension instead of weighing it down and obscuring the terroir/varietal characteristics. Lots of dried citrus peel, nectarine, herbs and spice with a touch of yeast. One of the only examples of the genre that kept me reaching for another glass.

1 person found it helpfulDec 18th, 2019An incredible example of when skin contact can add to a wine instead of becoming its only real pull. First had that orange wine reduction that so many have upon opening. Very shy underneath it all, almost certain we finished the bottle before it showed it’s true colours on the nose, all because of that palate... Immense structure, tension, energy all in unison; like a sphere of terroir expressing fruit. Unlike any other skin contact wine I’ve tasted to date. Unreal.

Oct 21st, 2016Just ridiculously good and expensive orange wine. Nectarines, tart, turbid. Kombucha. Jasmine, Green tea. Citrus notes. Very very juicy and drinkable.

Feb 10th, 2024Cloudy, flowery, funky.
A blend of Scheurebe and 3 Muscat varieties, 4 months skin contact, fermented on the lees.
Exotic nose with lychee, flowers in bloom, a bit of mango & guava, with some nice funk and brilliant freshness.
Great energy on the palate, bone dry and with nice, chalky minerality under the juicy acidity, a touch of tannins, great purity & flow.
This is delicious stuff! A perfect orange wine for beginners.

In the glass it looks like a flat wheat beer—light orange and cloudy. Citrus boozy nose. The first sip and you know it’s special. Unique experience, but quite different from orange Radikon. This is more wine, less cocktail. Lots of tension, medium body and tons of acidity. Easy to pair but interesting enough to be had on its own.
