Château Thivin
Famille Geoffray Côte de Brouilly Gamay
It’s definitely broad as is typical of the ‘18s but enjoyable on its own terms. Cherries, plums, violet pastille, a little licorice and earth, crushable after a little aeration

Nov 22nd, 2021Very complex, and changes constantly in the glass. Bright acidity, with low tannins and slight funk. Herbaceous and yummy.

May 12th, 202114% alcohol cru Beaujolais. It’s very pretty and well made but like wtf is going on. It tastes like it could have come from Russian river valley. Not that there’s anything wrong with that necessarily and again it’s very tasty

Apr 5th, 2020Res fruit and forest floor. Restrained at first. Thin bodied, some firm tannins. Well made and elegant. Probably drunk too young (2018 drunk in March 20)

Mar 15th, 2020Head-turner. Super fragrant, with dark berry, lavender and smoke aromas and a touch of volatility. This is super complex and layered, at the same time powerful and structured, as well as precise and elegant. Fruit comes in waves, balanced by earthy tones and some granitic energy giving focus to the finish. Great stuff.

1 person found it helpfulMar 14th, 2021Wow. Pure and exhilaratingly ripe. Translucent magenta in the glass. Perfumed and packed with purple raspberries. Finishing with a pleasant brambly zing. Only a slight hint of tannins, and while I think this could handle some time in bottle it’s just so pretty right now. One of the top three producers in Bojo imo.

1 person found it helpfulJan 26th, 2021It’s starts out quite fruity but unique and very enjoyable. As it continues to breath it gets more complex and bolder. It drinks several times it’s price. I think spectator gave it a 93 - I’ll go so far to give it a rare 94. Exceptional value at under $30 and everything a good wine should be.
