Château Sociando-Mallet
Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
Old and dusty (especially on the finish). Lots of forest floor compost, hints of tart, wild blackberries. Pet a really old black Labrador. Like a really sweet old lab, that maybe smells a little musky. Just like Stella, the 14 year old Labrador (pictured).

Nov 28th, 2022This is definitely a Giant Schnauzer wine. Dark ripe fruits, like purple plums or olallieberries. Smooth, like a newly discovered berry bush refreshed after a spring rainfall. Bold, yet humbled.

Mar 6th, 20211995 vintage. On the river near St. Estephe; very firm when young but ages well. 54% Merlot 48% cab, rest CF. Found it austere, but we determined it was bottle variation - the rest of the group loved it.

Feb 5th, 2021Excellent. Very different than the 00. Full bodied. Still carries a bit of that woody construct but in a subtle way vs the 00 which was light in body with strong hints of green pepper and cedar.

Jun 25th, 2020Enjoyed on a train ride home from NYC. Opens up immediately to a bouquet of smoky cigars and old leather. Palate still holds texture and tannins still have some grip. Totally pleasurable to drink now 😄

Mar 3rd, 2020Hasn’t developed into much. Cassis, fig, some vanilla from new oak. Seems thin and poorly-textured from heavy filtration. Not bad; just not what I’d expect from a mature ‘06.
