2018 vintage. Concentrated and layered, with a ripe tannic structure and great length.

2021 vintage. A great effort for the vintage in a lighter, fresh style. Can be drunk immediately, but should age well.

Tonights wine is the 2018 Chateau Sansonnet. Saint-Émilion Right Bank. A blend of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose there are plush black fruit of black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, black currant, vanilla, mocha, violets and mineraly soil.

On the palate I am receiving notes of black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, licorice, greenbell pepper, herbs, vanilla and gravelly soil.

This is a full bodied wine with a rich velvety mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + smooth supple tannin that leaves you with a long black fruit rich gravelly soil finish. This looks like a cooler than normal rainy Halloween weekend. I hope your weekend is full of joy and happiness. Please be safe and healthy and enjoy your Halloween. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Vegetal and funk on the nose from the start. If any fruit at the start on the nose, it’s cranberry, almost craisins, and cherry; red fruit. On the palate initially, I think the tannins need to resolve themselves. This might need to be decanted. Has a plummy finish. Will decant to prepare for grilled ribeye. More notes to follow.

Big display of ripe blueberry, savory spices, plush, with soft tannins and solid core of acid...could have decanted for hours, but time was running out..,

Massive plum on opening. Some Brett smokey notes. Cassis.
Palate, Smokey Deep cassis but mostly bitter tannins. Mouthfeel is thin and astringent. Need to how it develops but right now it looks like a poor vintage. No signs of oxidation so holding up ok from that perspective

Still wonderful Grand Cru. Flavors still balanced. Liked the old world acids

Nice rich and round right bank. Cherry and plum but chocolate and vanilla as well. Would hold longer.

Hugely extracted, sappy, boozy monster of a wine that’s a dead ringer for Napa. Despite the high ratings, it’s not a style I enjoy...

2020 vintage. Splendid nose and excellent color. PNP. Medium heavy body. Massive attack of blackberry and plum at the tip of the blue lines spear. A mega-fave St. Emmie producer in the $35-$40 strike price. Fleshy now and wish I had enough storage/discipline/ca$hi$h to park a couple of cases straight into darkness for a decade plus to trace performance/unfolding/defensive posture. Alas, I am undone. 12.10.24.
