Had this last year and it tastes even better a year later. What hit me right away as I poured my glass was the smell— like medicinal cherry. Tastes of cherry, raspberry flowers, graphite and potters clay, and herbs de Provence. Would still pair this with pets for a Cairn Terrier.

Red berry, heavy acidity, with a finish of baking spices, and earthy mushroom and minerals. Pair with pets for a cairn terrier.

Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe red/black fruit and complex spice from this mostly Merlot Right Bank blend with Cab Franc. On the palate concentrated fruit flavors of black cherry and red plums with licorice, currants, tobacco, cacao and toasty oak with smooth ripe fine tannins, well balanced. Long finish ending with fruit, oak and earthy notes. Very well done!

MAGNUM - light on its feet with dark plum fruit that balances nicely with a repertoire of horse farm, dark chocolate, pencil shavings and decomposing earth.

The 2017 Rouget is a total knockout. Aromatically explosive, deep and just so compelling in its beauty, the 2017 has so much to offer. A rush of inky dark fruit, lavender, bittersweet chocolate, spice and licorice build as this sumptuous, exotic beauty shows off all of its allure. The 2017 is not at all subtle, but it sure is gorgeous. Rouget was stellar en primeur. It is every bit as impressive from bottle. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2020)

Like being swaddled in worn, comfy, broken-in leather. Delicious (although the 2014 obviously is still très young).
