Château Peyros
Vieilles Vignes Madiran Tannat
Last night we opened the 2016 Château Peyros Vielles Vignes Madiran. This is a blend of 80% Tannat and 20% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose there is cherry, black plum, raspberry, black currant, anise, herbs, spice and smoke.
On the palate there was cherry, raspberry, plum, green bell pepper, herbs, graphite and an earthiness.
This is a full bodied wine with medium+ acidity and mouthcoating medium+ to high fine grippy tannins that moves into a long red and black fruit earthy finish. The weekend has been a joyus one and I hope everyone's was the same. Have a great week ahead and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Very nice Madiran. Ageing potential. Yummy

On the palate, you've got some strong tannins - to be expected from an 80% Tannat wine - and flavors of plum made savory, as if the plum skin is included. If you want a wine to pair with a big, fatty steak, here ya go. Decant first.
