Vintage 2012 / year that is easy accesible, mild smell with impressions of cherries and plums, soft vannilla, a bit sharp taste from bottle but velvety after a few hours in decanter. I like Lanessan because it is reliable. #hautmedoc Partnered with a steak, green asparagus with baked almond shavings.

The great value hype this producer is getting does not seem misplaced to me. Lots of length and good earth-fruit balance.

NOSE: plum…cherry…yeast…and — I’m not joking — DEAD MOUSE. Like, right out of the mousetrap. Also some kind of wild brambly berry cordial. Also, raspberry tea.

TASTE: silky cherry - you can really taste the cherry pits. Light-medium weight. A little almond extract. Some herbs I can’t quite peg - like a really mild clove. Weak drip coffee on the finish. Mild mannered (you’ll notice all my adjectives connoting watered-down), but good. No dead animal tastes that I notice. 🤣

To me, this is an 89 or a 90 … I usually err on the lower side of my instincts, but I think a 90 is warranted.

Dark robe with a nice nose of tobacco, cigar box, asphalt and soil notes. Very elegant and polished tannins, complex, in a medium bodied and long finish. Very good now but will get better with 3 to 5 years in the cellar. One of our favorite bordeaux values.
