Nice medium gold. Great perfumed nose with honey, brown sugar and orange peel. In the mouth it has a nice richness to it with a medium plus finish.

Delivers a kaleidascape of smells and tastes. At a peak level IMO.

For the first time tonight I am trying a Sauternes. I am not usually a sweet wine kind of guy but I have always want to try one. I was given this bottle by a friend and tonight I have decided to give this a try. I really don't have anything to go off of in my memory to base this on first tasting so please bear with me. Upon first opening the aromas are telling me it is definitely sweet. The color is a dark golden with an orange hew to it. On the nose I am getting definite honey, apricot, hazelnut, a creme brulee with vanilla hints. The first taste on my palate is very rich and sweet, dried pineapple, a buttery orange, butterscotch, toasty vanilla, a nice acidity even at this age and a good long finish. My first experience has been a good one though this much sweet I can only handle a certain amount.

Tonight's foie gras and Sauternes tasting: my rank 3 of 4. Group no. 4. Darker amber color shows its age. Fragrant butterscotch, sherry and hint of mushroom. Layered with subtle smoky marzipan, and jammy figs. Pleasant viscous mouthfeel.

Very fresh and vivid. Not too sweet or cloying, but refreshing. Floral notes and lots of lift and drive. Excellent

Very nice desert wine great to drink. Can't remember details of this wine as it was the end of a 10 wine SJOS tasting.

Third annual birth year wine for my birthday. So far my favorite. Perfect honeycomb taste. Still some good acid after all these years.

A bit partial given it's from my birth year, but that aside, this is stunning Sauternes. Amber in color with deep gold highlights. Notes of dried and candied orange peel, dried apricot, wood smoke and toasted cream brûlée. The palate is perfectly balanced thanks to the 15% of Sauvignon Blanc. Unctuous with plenty of verve considering a bit of Humboldt Fog was present. I will always have a bottle of this at the ready.
