Big and ripe nose. Palate is succulent and bit bitter.

Vintage 2005 | 3 hours decant | brown rim, beautiful barnyard nose, spices like clove, Scottish pipe tobacco, even some cherries. Taste is velvety, supple, no need to cellar this wine longer, good acidity, vibrant. Classic Haut Medoc that delivers | paired with Chaams Hoen chicken roulade and green asparagus, and cheddar cheese.

2019 vintage. This ancient estate was bought in 1999 by Bernard Magrez who expanded the vineyards in such a way that today it is the largest Cru Classé vineyard in Bordeaux. The 2019 vintage is a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. While it is no match for the impressive La Lagune 2019 tasted alongside, this La Tour Carnet is terrific value. Dark coloured, with smokey oak, black fruit and leather in the nose. Powerful taste, with concentrated fruit, good acidity and ripe tannin. Good length too. More extraction and less finesse compared to La Lagune, but highly recommended at 26,90 euros.

Vintage 2003 | brown rim, intense and beautiful smell with many layers: autumn leaves, Scottish tobacco, impressions of chocolate, cassis, a velvety taste. Needs no longer to be cellared, a Point. Paired with zucchini tarts and lamsrack from the grill.

Very enjoyable Wednesday Wine Committee lunch today with @Weston Eidson & @Colby Siratt hosting. Same format as always...1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine all tasted blind.

This was plush and dense while also being very youthful and gripping. Dark fruit dominant. Black Forest cake, dark cocoa dusted dates, roasted plum and a touch of saddle leather. I called this left bank 2012 vintage.

We are together again sharing the 2009 Château La Tour Carnet on this Sunday night. A beautifully blended Bordeaux 62% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

On the nose there is black and red fruit, blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, black currant, chocolate, licorice, rose petal, graphite and earth.

The palate reveals wonderfully full dark fruit, blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, mint, graphite and a mellow toasted vanilla.

This enjoyable medium to full bodied wine is smooth with a velvety mouth feel, a medium + acidity and medium + rounded tannins that lead to a long gratifying finish. What a way to start the new week with a gorgeous 2009 vintage wine from Bordeaux. This vintage continues to rock. And the wine is highly accessible now but can be cellared for another 5-8 years. Have a great coming week and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Tonight's wine is the 2010 Château La Tour Carnet Haut-Mèdoc. 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

The nose gives us black cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, black currant, chocolate, pencil shavings, black pepper and dry soil.

On the palate there is black cherry, plum, blackberry, anise, black currant, violet, vanilla, graphite and earth.

This wine is medium to full bodied that is smooth with medium + acidity and medium + fine sweet tannins that leads to a long pleasing finish. The beginning of the work week is about to start and we need to think about being safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷
