Saturday night and it is time for a 5th Growth Bordeaux the 2001 Chateau DuTertre. This Chateau is one of the oldest on the Left Bank. A very nice well balanced wine at 17 years of age.

On the nose there is good dark fruit black cherry, blackberry, black currant, black pepper, licorice, violets and dark rich earth.

The palate the dark fruit continues with good black cherry, blackberry, black currant, black pepper, the herbal notes come through real nice, a bit of leather, and rich tilled soil.

The wine is medium to full bodied with medium acidity and medium smooth tannins that lead into a long dark fruit finish. An enjoyable Bordeaux that still has another 5 to 10 years ahead of it. Continued enjoying your weekend and please be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Vintage 2013 Blackberry bouquet, very elegant taste, seems an ideal luncheon wine at the moment #bordeaux #margaux

This was in the modern style when young. What a difference age makes. Beautiful nose of cigar tobacco, hay, mineral, wet stones, leather and spices. Library like aromas. Very secondary. Some fruit emerges after air. Palate shows rich, ripe fruit buffered by that excellent 2000 acidity. Great structure and tannins still but in a nice place. I'm sure it will get more interesting as the night progresses.

2000 is just beautiful right now! The color is mesmerizing - sunburnt orange rim, brick red, with a dark crimson core. When you open this one, you get immediate cellar funk and compost flying out of the bottle, but after about 40 minutes, the funk flies, and what you're left with a true lightning bolt..(coup de foudre!) Leather couches in a frequented library, espresso, stewed red apple skins, and bell pepper, tobacco, and dried carnations. Tannins are still firmly present, and still sexy in feel (yes, velvet love in liquid form), black plums, graphite, bell pepper, clove spice, and a soft and lush finish. I think this wine could see another 15 years at least with the youth it began to show around 2.5 hrs after being opened. If you can find any 2000 around, grab 3.. lay 2 down, drink one now. Happy Valentine's Day!

Great classic aged Bordeaux nose. Graphite, minerals, cassis, red berries and some nice floral aromas after air. Great palate. Nice depth. Very rich. Elegant and fresh. Years to go.

1983 vintage, in Sonoma on Sat.
Cork a bit wonky at the top, but solid below. Lovely strawberry old Margaux nose. No sign of oxidation. Luckily, neither jammy or dried out. Please sir, may I have some more?

Incredibly vibrant - decanted 3 hours and still youthful. Intense cooked blackberry and cassis - lots of roast chicken skin & dried rose petals. Totally resolved tannin- perfect condition.
