2015 vintage. Many Côte de Beaune wines from the famous appellations like Meursault are out of reach for many winelovers, but thankfully there is terrific stuff to be found in less prestigious parts of Burgundy and Château de Chamirey is a safe bet. This "village" Mercurey comes from 6 different plots with predominantly limestone and clay soils. Malolactic and alcoholic fermentations in barrel. Ageing in lightly toasted barriques (15% new). Bright yellow fruit and flowers. In the mouth it displays the richness of the 2015 vintage, but with impeccable balance and very good length. The oak is perfectly integrated and it has a certain complexity and very good length. Very good value as it outperforms many a Meursault at half the price. Kudos to the Devillard family. Highly recommended.

2019 vintage. Last tasted 05.22.25 (9.1). More oak influence than I remembered but still pretty tasty for the pricing. 09.17.25.

Pure Chardonnay, without being overly oaky, hint of lemon, paired well with swordfish.

Sage.

“Bursting with scents of pear, peach, orange oil and toasted nuts, the 2018 Mercurey Blanc is medium-bodied, lively and expressive, with racy acids and chalky grip on the finish.” RP88
