Château de Chamirey
Les Ruelles Mercurey 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Magnum ... great fruit, cherries, forest floor and surprisingly + alcohol, however great to enjoy Christmas 2019 lunch with.

Dec 29th, 2019Built in the 17th century, Château overlooks vineyards of Mercurey in Côte Chalonnaise. In 1934, Marquis de Jouennes, father-in-law of Bertrand Devillard and grand-father of Amaury and Aurore (present owners), produced his first bottle of red Mercurey. Soft red fruit nose with rustic spices. Cherry and raspberry, sweet herb spice, good balance. Smooth tannins, lingering ending with earthy mineral tones.

Jul 17th, 2015Cool, supple, aromatic. Firm fruit flavors and vanilla to open. Finishes with juniper berry and hinoki/woods. Never a sour note. Smooth in the mouth throughout, with fine structure over a long and dry finish. come to think of it, I have no visual reference of Burgundy as a scene/setting.... To me, this wine takes you to autumn in Kyoto spent with a French/Danish lover.

Feb 4th, 2013Aromas of smoked minerals, black cherries, raspberries, leather, tobacco, and earth. Unfolds over time to reveal roses. Beautiful brick red color. Strong black cherries on the palatte. Nice, albeit not spellbinding finish.
