Vigneto San Lorenzo Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend

See previous Note. Old plummie, red cherry notes. Barb said dusty and pine needles. A cooler vintage. I said red cherries and freshly tilled loam. As Galloni said “In 2010 Ama did not bottle their single vineyard selections. All the best fruit went here.” Tasting more the quality of a Brunello than a Chianti Classico. No. 6 in Wine Spectators Top 100 for 2015.

Aged 12 years and opened for Lorenzo’s 4th birthday. Great success. Pairs well with hot wheels and Tyrannosaurus rex 🦖

#6 in Wine Spectators Top 100 for 2014. See previous note. The aromatics of vanilla oak in its youth have mitigated and the whole wine is much more balanced. A deep rich red. Aromas of red and black cherry and a little dried orange peel. Medium bodied palate - very Chianti Classico from a good vintage. It will continue to improve through this decade to 2030. It needed 13 years for everything to come together. Luckily I have a few left.

This wine gets the Sangi-O-face. beautifully classic in style, wonderfully drinkable.

This bottle is drinking nicely. Morello cherry, tart plum, tomato leaf, dried herbs. Tart, savory with a touch of salinity and iron. Tannins are soft but still present and I like the acidity that balances out the wine. Very nice

Cooked unfortunately. Flabby, stewed fruit.

Sangiovese with a left bank vibe, dry and cedary, but nuanced and pure. Needs 2-3 more years in bottle, this will improve.

Extremely savoury on nose and palate but is there ANY fruit? Medium bodied with earthy cherry notes finishing with sandy drying tannins. Similar notes to 156 weeks ago. Starting to come together after 9 years but to be honest it has not lived up to its #6 wine for 2014 with Wine Spectator. I have about 4 left so its progress will be interesting.
