Another stunner from 2015. I love this producer and the purity of its style. A reference point wine with drop dead gorgeous and slightly rustic fall aromas with a hint of bergamot and leather. Flavors of sour cherry, pomegranate, orange peel and warm spices framed by sinewy tannins and ripping acidity.

Castell'in Villa's 2015 Chianti Classico is a gorgeous wine that will delight readers who enjoy the Chianti Classicos of this reference-point estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga. Crushed flowers, mint, licorice, dried herbs, cedar and tobacco give the 2015 lovely aromatic complexity. The 2015 is perhaps a bit more open than young wines tend to be here, but then again, 2015 is a warm vintage that generally yielded accessible Chianti Classicos. All that means is that the 2015 can be enjoyed with less cellaring than is the norm here. As it so often is, the Castell'in Villa Chianti Classico is a wine of real pedigree and distinction. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2019)

First had this overlooking the Chianti hills and went into a trance, but wasn’t sure it would survive being drunk in Murica. I was wrong. Bright, energetic fruit (especially the sour cherry), vibrant fruity and floral aromas, very well integrated. Could go for ages, but the freshness is the best part, so I wouldn’t (and didn’t) hold onto it.

Chianti Classico clinic for a bargain entry fee. Raspberry, plum, fennel, leather, licorice, gravel and balsamic herb. Lean, bright, laser-focused. Well-built medium-bodied beauty with all the hallmarks of the terroir. Ample weight with no extra fat. Linear, slow-building dusty tannins and great fruit extraction. A real steal for the price and a textbook example of its type.

This is what sangiovese is meant to be! Tar, sour cherry, tart cranberry, mushrooms, stewed tomato, and ripping acid.

This is bangin for the price! Deep cherry tones, raspberry, leather, fennel seed, violets, dust and bitter root. Starting to pick up so bottle age notes like leather and mushroom. Love how pure and put together this is right now. Edges have rounded off, energetic and lively.
