The 2019 Chianti Classico has changed dramatically since I last tasted it, either because of more time in bottle, or because this is a later bottling. In any event, the 2019 is dense, ample and resonant in feel. Readers will find a serious, texturally intense Chianti Classico that delivers the goods, big time. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2024)

Popped and poured. The 2015 Castell’In Villa CC pours a bright ruby with medium+ viscosity, no staining of the tears and no signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing, with notes of tart cherries, some ripe BO (but I kinda like it?), spiced meat, dried herbs and dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, tart and has some great minerals giving the impression of freshness and, well, elegance. A solid expression of the Castelnuovo Berardenga UGA. Drinking well now but I think that’s more the generosity of the 2015 vintage than maturity. Drink now with some patience and over the next 5-10 years.

A very open and inviting Annata. Nose is pure ripe cherry, with a little sneaky beam of vanilla, tingly crushed rock dust, and a savory iodine-adjacent note. Full, soft, and relatively lively in the mouth. Nice flavor concentration of macerated ripe cherry and crushed rock, with a lengthy finish that gets savory as it clings. Not super complex or age-worthy but just joyful right now.

It is happening...i have started to open some of my wines from Italy...
This was quite a lot more than just a Chianti
What an irony mineral
Still holding perfectly
Castell'in Villa..what else?

Translucent but concentrated at the same Time. Aromatic opening of fresh red berries, cherries, strawberries and raspberries, lavender, fresh mint and a balanced incense like volatile lift over a savoury spice cancan.
Dry palate with a high acidity, medium + body and high dusty, tannins, fresh mid palate with a medium flavour intensity of red cherries, violets and incense with a medium + lenght finish
Very dominant of the tannins at the moment and would Benefit from a couple years of mellowing.

Dusty cellar nose

Medium bodied and full of life! Some new leather, fig, hazelnut, strong and fit. Mint and cherry zinger finish this long, lingering, finish.

Powerful, classically austere and incredibly beautiful, the 2016 Chianti Classico is a total stunner. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, cedar, mint and dried flowers open up with a bit of coaxing. The translucent beauty of Sangiovese comes through in a wine that will leave readers weak at the knees. $25.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2020)

Another stunner from 2015. I love this producer and the purity of its style. A reference point wine with drop dead gorgeous and slightly rustic fall aromas with a hint of bergamot and leather. Flavors of sour cherry, pomegranate, orange peel and warm spices framed by sinewy tannins and ripping acidity.
