Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2022 Chianti Classico pours a deep garnet with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart black and red fruit: black plum, dark cherry, blackberry, burnt rubber, potting soil, vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Drink now through 2032.

The 2022 Chianti Classico is a fine introduction to the Castellare range. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, this is a wine of tremendous appeal. The 2022 is on the fruitier side, but its balance is impeccable. Hints of spice, leather and citrus linger on the mid-weight finish. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2024)

Nice quaff. Sometimes simple is all you need. Well balanced. Organic. Paired with penne alla vodka with sweet Italian sausage. From half bottle.

I haven’t been drinking for about two years now because of some crazy inflammation and back pain. Happy to be back drinking wine with my new healthy diet. This was excellent. Clean and pretty complex for a 20 dollar bottle of wine. It really opened up after a couple hours I could have easily drank the entire bottle to my head. Not sure if 2020 was good year for Tuscany/Chianti but this was very good. I usually prefer my Chianti/Sangiovese a little bit riper but I don’t really have any complaints with this bottle.

Covid Chianti kick continues. Nice herb and spice component. Tarragon, basil, sage w/ some tomato action. All held up in classic Chianti cherry. Great for price.

Fairly simple Chianti. Black cherry, ripe plum, spice and tobacco. Fairly dark color and soft flesh on the mid palate with very medium tannins. Perhaps a bit of Merlot in the blend?
