Objectively this is an 88 point cab, but given that I am having it with an amazing meal in a private cabana on the beach in Cancun for my daughters’ 16th birthday I rate it 90 :-)

Straight forward cab sauv from the oldest winery in The Americas (est.1597) in El Valle de Parras. Very fruit-forward, not oaky like I expected. A welcome gift from the folks at Rancho Pescadero 😁

My first wine from Mexico. Subtle aromatics that are varietally correct and mild pyrazines. Salty. A wonderful balance is struck between body, tannin and acid. Decanted for an hour.

I liked it but it does not taste like a cabernet sauvignon so I can only give it a minimum score for ‘like.’ More like a zinfandel.
