Naturalmente Terre Siciliane Perricone

First had this at the Advanced Somm course in Dallas. All natural but none of the funk and yeasty flavors that I get with some natural wines. Just tart, juicy red fruit. 2021

An organic, all natural wine that I actually enjoy. First tasted at the Advanced Sommelier Course. Lots of tart red berries, think Gamay and Nerello. Crisp acidity , nediunm minus tannins, low alcohol. Easy drinking lighter red.

Concord grape-y and some underlying green notes. Tannic and tart,bitter plum skin.

Very classy Perricone. I don’t know what to compare this grape to… it is it’s own original grape. When a producer makes her Perricone in a more classic style (not too much extraction or barrel aging), you get a wine that has beautiful balance of structure, fruit and acid.

Very liquorice. Brambly fruit, subtle, lower lip grip. Great w pasta and proteins, chilies slightly cool on a 90° day.

Blueberries and blackberries. All natural and organic. Good acidity with moderate plus tannins.

Barely breaking the top 20 of grape varieties found in Sicily (also the only place Perricone is found to my knowledge), single variety Perricone isn’t exactly available in abundance, which is a shame because it’s a juicy delight. Tart black cherry is the dominant note. Also black currant, licorice, blueberries, violet with a touch of dried herbs / medicinal / savory quality on the back palate. Medium bodied. Well integrated tannins. Ebullient. Organically farmed. Terrier approved.

Perricone is maybe my new favorite grape! Very complex but super approachable, this is sweeter than the other I had but with good tannic structure, herbs, berries, and a hint of smoke. Yumz!

Sicilian wine that’s nothing but blackberries and controlled tannins. Fun and fruit forward.
