Cantina Terlan
Tradition Alto Adige Pinot Bianco

This wine has a pale yellow color with a greenish tint. The nose is amazing, full of minerality and salinity, with citrus, apple, and pear notes. The palate is loaded with minerals, too, and that beautiful, salty flavor. The acidity is invigorating, and the finish is lengthy. The winery suggests pairing with a wide variety of foods, including seafood, scampi, salads, even spaghetti carbonara. I had mine with a chicken salad sandwich, and again with some Rancho Gordo beans and rice. It was a great fit both ways.

Nothing spooky about this delicious, crisp, tart Pinot Bianco, enjoyed on Halloween evening.

The 2020 Pinot Bianco is fresh, with a bouquet of wet stone, savory herbs and dusty yellow flowers. Round and soothing in feel, its pleasant inner sweetness is matched by citrus tones and bright acidity. There’s lovely balance as saline minerals linger long through the finale. $24.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2022)

Another lovely Terlan wine from the Dolomites. We enjoyed sipping these clean whites in the mountains last summer. Crisp notes of pear and lemon grass, no oak influence, bone-dry, a little extra complexity from aging on the lees. Pinot Blanc should be on more wine lists... no bitter finish and a lovely alternative to most Pinot Grigio.

Surprising how much I like this. That perfect balance of bright fruit and that roundness to make it interesting. All for $18. Fruit is tart pear, lychee, & Meyer lemon. Minerality like licking river stones.

Subtle nose, delicate, light and refreshing. Citrus, pear, kiwi and gooseberry, sl. green pineapple. Great minerality on the palate, crumbled rocks, starch.

Delicious crisp white from this Alto Adige co-op. This wine crosses boundaries for wine drinkers, winning converts from the sweeter wine fans, the Grigio fans, and the dry Riesling camp. Mineral backbone with stone fruit flavors remind me of the Dolomites, and why I always enjoy Pinot Blanc. Terlan is a terrific producer.
